Taekwon-Do ITF - Way Of Life
More About Our Company
Taekwon-Do , a martial art that in the name is said to be the art of kicking and punching in the air and therefore, can be seen as a way of life ? It can be easy , especially in some western culture does not see beyond and therefore fail to understand the true meaning of practicing a martial art . Too often the approach to the martial arts is becoming ” sports – competitive ” and therefore the teaching takes on a commercial approach , so to speak , in fact losing the true meaning of the practice. Too easily become confused martial arts and combat sports with the same superficiality and you look to the martial art as a means to have a strong physique , with sculpted muscles , and be able to do spectacular stunts . With great ease you move from one gym to another looking for the most complete martial art , one that will be able to make us invincible , that will give us a chance to say ” I am the strongest .” Personally I rather think that the path to true in martial arts, is a completely different thing , I like to never forget a few words of the founder of TKD ITF who point out that this discipline has to be a way of life that has as its goal to improve society in which we live . I recently happened to the page of the Grand Master Han Sam Soon , I share the example that pools Taekwon-Do and the world in which we live, through some basic elements of life on the planet Earth, ie the Sun, the ‘ water and Air.
We live in a vast universe that gives without asking anything in return . The sun provides the energy for all things on earth , giving each animal and plant , without discrimination. All things being equal under the sun. Similarly , practitioners of Tae Kwon-Do have to treat every individual with respect, regardless of who it is. Following the five principles of Tae Kwon Do and the oath of everyday black belts , one must aspire to be fair as the sun . Even the highest degree must be respectful of the lower grades . This is represented by the red stripe , in the uniform flow of the ninth DAN , which literally means ” the indiscriminate quality of the sun .”
Life can not exist without the sun , and the earth would be nothing but a rock frozen , if the sun does not arise every day. Our survival depends on the sun , and the sun never fails to give us heat and power, always shining somewhere on the planet. The sun represents the greatness and magnanimity that practitioners of Tae Kwon-Do should strive to achieve. Through the struggle every day to improve, students will have to live fulfilling lives and eventually become great people. However , now we are great or not, we have to be magnanimous as the sun, give unconditionally , without expecting anything in return.
The water is equally necessary for life. The sunlight reaches all the nine planets of our solar system, and other parts of the universe, the other stars give light to their planets. However , Earth is the only planet known that has life forms , because it is the only one with large amounts of water . The vast majority of the earth is covered by oceans and seas , and two-thirds of the human body is composed of water . A man can live for three or four days at most , with no water , but can live for a month without food. While water is a cycle that flows from the mountains to the seas , the practice of Tae Kwon Do is a series of physical and mental training that goes to technical training to the growth of our trust and therefore can also be used as self- defense.
However, as with the sun , the water does not discriminate among its drinkers. All living things need it, and all living beings must be given. Unlike the sun, which is always above us in the sky , the water tries to move below. Sinks to the bottom , preferring the trenches deeper and lower . Thus, the water is humility. Like the sun, the water does not want anything in return. Practitioners of Tae Kwon-Do should drop below the other , and look up the meaning of his own existence in the depths of their soul , rather than outward in the power and the glory , so that one day they can love others unconditionally.
Air is the last of three elements. Like the other two , the air is necessary for life . A person can not hold your breath for more than a few minutes without suffering brain damage or even death. As with the water , the air is what makes unique the Earth . No other planet has the atmosphere necessary to enable living organisms to thrive. However , we often forget how much we depend from the Earth because it is so common and easily accessible. Similarly, we take for granted many gifts in our lives. Most of us are healthy, educated, and wealthy enough , compared to the many people who are suffering in other parts of the world. Yet , we continue to want more and more things. The Aria is the detachment from the material world and gratitude for the gifts of our lives. Therefore, we must be thankful for what we have, but try to remain detached from material goods .
Earth is the fourth element , which represents the rules of Tae Kwon Do in people’s lives . As with the previous three elements, the earth gives nourishment to all living beings. Unlike the sun, however, is not far away, but right under our feet. The theories are important to reach deeper levels of personal growth, but practitioners of Tae Kwon-Do must remain in order to have practical relevance in modern society. However, a careful balance must be maintained. As the water changes shape to fit its surroundings , the land has its own form , the Air has little substance and moves in swirls around without direction, while the earth is solid and has the structure . In other words, in the classes of Tae Kwon-Do you have to maintain a high standard of discipline and training in order to properly guide the students.
There are so many ideas and ways of life in the world , especially in the modern era of globalization , young people can easily be overwhelmed by the number of competing ideologies and beliefs . Tae Kwon Do is not the only way of life, and can not go well at all. But it is a great way to live , and provides moral education and self-mastery. These are the qualities that the three key elements referred to above , that the practitioners of Taekwon-Do should endeavor to obtain , so that possanoo learn to care and love others unconditionally. But without a good physical and mental health , we can not serve the world . Of course Tae Kwon Do is also self- defense in case of necessity, but the Tae Kwon-Do as a lifestyle incorporates the magnanimity of the sun, the water humility , and detachment of air through the practicality and the structure of earth.
